Inflight insight: “The airports are nowhere near as busy so check-in time is much simpler. Masks and wipes are handed out when you board the plane; and there are strict measures for maintaining cleanliness” - Kim Ross.
Cairns
“The first stop on our holiday was in Cairns with a stay at Riley, a Crystalbrook Collection Resort. We stayed in a Family Room which had beautiful views out over the ocean. The resort featured many fantastic pools (which kept the kids entertained for hours), complimentary bike hire and wonderful restaurants and bars including Rocco - the city’s highest rooftop bar and restaurant with panoramic views of the Coral Sea.” “Outside the resort, the boys went on fish trips while the girls enjoyed a more leisurely experience exploring Cairns and the local Aquarium.”
Port Douglas
“After Cairns we travelled to Port Douglas where we stayed in two resorts. First, we stayed at Pullman Port Douglas Sea Temple Resort & Spa in a Two Bedroom Swimout Room. This room was perfect for our kids with the pool located right on our doorstep. The resort was absolutely wonderful in offering both a relaxing environment and many fun-filled facilities.“
“Our second stay was at Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort in the Presidential Suite. This amazing resort is enveloped in 147 hectares of lush tropical gardens and two hectares of sparkling salt-water lagoons. The lux facilities like the swim-up bar, cabanas for lazing around, an 18-hole golf course and refreshed bars and restaurants, made this stay our absolute favourite.”
“While in Port Douglas we went out to the outer reef where my 13 year old did an introductory dive, meanwhile my three year old and I just loved watching all of the beautiful fish. Due to restrictions, there is much more space on board which was wonderful. We couldn’t leave Port Douglas without visiting Mossman Gorge in the Daintree Rainforest. There were few travellers in the area which meant we had The Gorge all to ourselves.”
“This was the perfect family getaway where the whole family was able to relax and have fun - all without even leaving the country.”
