Walk Along The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal
The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal abbreviated as the C&O Canal and occasionally called the "Grand Old Ditch," was in operation from 1831 until 1924. The canal's main cargo was coal from the Allegheny Mountains, however, is now kept as a beautiful national historical park, with a lovely trail that follows the old towpath.
The grassy areas either side of the canal also make for the perfect spot to sit and enjoy a Georgetown Cupcake.
Shop Until You Drop On M Street Northwest
All of the most preppy Georgetown ladies who lunch head straight for M Street Northwest to shop at the likes of Alice & Olivia, Calypso St. Barth, Billy Reid, Intermix and Bluemercury.
For a cooler downtown vibe, the locals know to head to Rag & Bone, All Saints, Madewell and Relish for the likes of Proenza Schouler and Dries Van Noten.

Explore the historical Georgetown neighbourhood which has throughout the years housed a fair few notable residents including two former presidents Thomas Jefferson and John F.
Kennedy (3307 N Street, in a Federal-style rowhouse) plus Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor and chef Julia Child.
Eat A Giant Cupcake At The Local - Baked & Wired
By ‘local’ we mean local cupcake bakery because it’s clearly a trend in this part of town and like your local bar, every local must have their local cupcake shop.
Get Schooled At Georgetown University
Georgetown is home to the main campus of the famous Georgetown University, one of the toughest colleges to be accepted into in the US. It also boasts one of the most architecturally beautiful campuses in the country featuring collegiate Gothic architecture and Georgian brick architecture.
College basketball is a big deal in the US between the months of November to April, another fun thing to do while you’re in town is to see the Georgetown University Hoyas Basketball team play on their home turf. Tickets are open to the public but just make sure you’re wearing the right colours (hint: blue and grey).
Play Bocce at Pinstripes
This institution of Italian-American gourmet food is the best place in town to both knock over some bowling pins as well as roll a bocce or two.
The restaurant features a huge bowling alley including 14 bowling lanes and six bocce courts in a colossal 32,000 square foot space that borders the canal.
