My latest adventure was with a group of friends for a weekend of food and wine at Queensland’s Granite Belt Wine Country of Stanthorpe.”

DAY 1
“Our first day began with a leisurely drive to Stanthorpe with a break in a coffee stop in Warwick and then a pub style lunch in Stanthorpe once we arrived.”
Azjure Studio Retreat
“Our accommodation was a 4 bedroom villa called Azjure. The property is set amongst the vines in Ballandean and is aptly known as one of the best properties in the region. The villa has a striking architectural design with large windows, which accentuate the large open-plan living space. The outdoor patio overlooks fields of vines, landscaped gardens and local wildlife - the perfect setting for a lazy afternoon of sipping local reds with friends.”

“Night one we dined at The Barrelroom located at Ballandean Estate. It is one of the best restaurants in the area serving modern Australian cuisine paired beautifully with their Estate wines.”
Girraween National Park
DAY 2
“We woke up early the next day to enjoy a morning hike at Girraween National Park. The park is renowned for its massive 200 million year old Triassic granite boulders. They were absolutely incredible to hike through. A couple from my group even made it to the highest point! Even if you may not be able to hike to the highest peak, you’ll more than enjoy the remarkable landscape around you.”
Winery and Granite Rock in Stanthorpe
“Once we had returned from our hike and enjoyed a well deserved breakfast, we began our full day Wine & Beer tour (After all, what’s a trip to Stanthorpe without exploring the local wines?). This took us to four wineries, the local must-do shops and lunch at the local brewery. I would highly recommend this experience. My entire group felt as if we had visited the very best of Stanthorpe, and that we were totally welcomed into the local community.”
