March is also a wonderful time as it’s when the Whales pass through the waters off Hawaii.” The shallow waters off Maui’s western and southern coasts offer some of the best whale watching in the world, where the giant mammals can be seen playfully tail-slapping and blowing air through their blow holes.
Another favourite Hawaiian activity is the luau – a traditional feast where music and dance are often incorporated. The Drums of the Pacific Luau at the Hyatt Regency Maui may be slightly tourist oriented but the lavish affair offers an electric atmosphere.
