Flying High in Style: United Airlines Polaris Business Class Review

Recently, I had the pleasure of flying United Airlines Polaris Business Class on a long-haul journey from Melbourne to Los Angeles, and then onward to Newark. From the moment I checked in to the final descent, the entire experience was marked by comfort, efficiency, and thoughtful luxury.

Seamless Check-In

Flying Polaris Class truly sets the tone for a premium travel experience. The priority check-in was swift and hassle-free, with access to exclusive security lanes and priority boarding. What stood out to me immediately was the generous luggage allowance – two 32 kg pieces – which is a godsend for long international trips.

Lounge Life

While there’s no United Polaris Lounge in Melbourne, I visited the Air New Zealand lounge instead. However, the real standout was the Polaris Lounge at LAX’s Terminal 7. Sleek, modern, and refreshingly clean, it featured shower suites, spacious lounge zones, and a delicious dining area. Guests can choose between a fresh buffet or an à la carte menu, with private workspaces and a bar – it’s everything you could want in a luxury lounge.

The Seat That Becomes a Sanctuary

For the first leg, I recommend seat 12F, and for the Newark flight, 1A. There was plenty of storage for my essentials, and the entertainment library was vast – perfect for binge-watching in the sky. The amenity kit was packed with thoughtful touches like ear plugs, socks, and an eye mask to block out distractions.

When it came time to rest, the seat transformed into a flatbed dressed in Saks Fifth Avenue bedding – pure bliss. The pyjamas were available in two sizes (opt for the larger one if unsure), and I felt completely cocooned in comfort.

Dining in the Sky

The revamped Polaris menu was a highlight. Every meal I tried was impressive, especially the salmon – fresh and flavorful. But the real treat? The made-to-order ice cream sundae, complete with your choice of toppings. It’s not just a dessert, it’s an experience.

Concierge Tip

If you’re flying Polaris, do yourself a favour and pre-order your meals – it ensures you get your preferred option and saves time. The dessert is not to be missed, and I found that upgrading to access Wi-Fi allowed me to stay productive in the sky. Fast and efficient, I was able to work throughout the flight without a hitch.

United Airlines Polaris Business Class blends comfort, convenience, and culinary delight in a way that turns long-haul travel into something truly special. From the lounge to the lie-flat seat and every amenity in between, it’s a journey that makes you look forward to flying again.
